I have some participants that are available to start as early as December 4th, 2017. Thank you in advance and we look forward to working with you! Skilled International Interns – Korea WEST Plus The Korea WEST Plus program is a joint venture between the State Department of the United States and the Ministry of Education (MOE) in South Korea that can last up to twelve months. The program is designed to give top students from South Korea the opportunity to work in a professional internship, complete an English study program, and also the opportunity to travel. All of this, while gaining a greater understanding of the American workplace and enhancing cross-cultural relationships between the United States and South Korea. Participants in the Korea WEST Plus program have been hand-picked by the Ministry of Education and personally interviewed by AAG. Each individual not only represents the top of their class academically, but also in their language skills. Alliance Abroad Group (AAG) is proud to be one of the four designated sponsors to facilitate the WEST Plus program. At AAG we aren't just creating cultural exchange experiences; we are connecting, enriching, and empowering the global community one person at a time. As a potential host employer for our Korea WEST Plus program, you may be asking yourself: Will the interns need to be paid? While we do encourage companies to pay interns, we understand not all are able to and this is not a requirement of the program. Typically how long is the internship? This is dependent on the individual intern, but they are usually 6 – 9 months in length. What are my responsibilities for cultural events? While we encourage companies to play an active role in cultural activities, it could be as simple as letting the interns know about local events. I already have an established internship program, so how will this program benefit me? Having an international intern at your company adds to the office’s diversity and dynamic. Even being at the company for a short time, the interns are handpicked by the government and are at the top of their field so they will be able to contribute a lot. Do I have to pay anything for this program? No, this is a service Alliance Abroad provides. What if I don’t feel I have enough time start the process of hosting an intern? AAG is able to assist with the initial paperwork and we provide support throughout their program. Will I have to report to the government if I sign up for this program? No, AAG is designated by the Department of State to operate this program and you will need to communicate with Alliance Abroad. What exactly are the responsibilities of a host employer? You will supervise the interns and they will need to train 32 hours a week. Alliance Abroad will work with you on a training plan and you can assign a project for them. In the end, the training plan will demonstrate how the intern will contribute to your company. How can I sign up for this amazing program? Email smartinez@allianceabroad.com
