''As a High Performing housing authority that assists over 20,000 Austinites, the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) owns and operates 1,839 units of subsidized housing in 18 developments throughout Austin. Development sites range from high-rise apartments on Lady Bird Lake to small duplexes in residential neighborhoods. HACA also manages the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program that provides rental vouchers for more than 5,000 units of housing in Austin's private rental market. In addition, HACA has added more than 4,000 high-quality affordable rental units to meet Austin’s housing needs through its subsidiary, the Austin Affordable Housing Corporation.''
